Social Justice Fellowship Commencement Highlights SDoH

Capstone presentations illuminated critical areas such as social determinants of health (SDoH), acess, equity and social justice at the December 6, 2022 Health Sciences Social Justice Fellowship Commencement. Honoring the five faculty representing the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, alongside their community partners spanning the region, Vice Provost for Faculty Diversity and Development John Wallace, PhD shared his experience in campus-community relationship building, mirroring the Health Sciences Social Justice Fellowship objective to pair health sciences faculty with community partners to create plans to address inequities relative to the health and well-being of the community-at-large. Wallace's immense insight underscored and celebrated the near-year-long activities of the Fellowship participants seeking to disrupt health inequitites.

In the blue and gold themed Lower Lounge room of the William Pitt Union, the commencement program also included remarks by Associate Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Paula K. Davis and Director, Social Justice, Racial Equity and Faculty Engagement Noble A-W Maseru, PhD.
